Did you know Humans, like you, have an untapped Superpower?
Here are 5 Ways to Tap into Yours
As a huge fan of Marvel, Harry Potter, and anime like My Hero Academia, the thought of having Superpowers is just really cool. Despite the burden and responsibilities that these heroes have to endure, how fulfilling would it be to live for the collective good of everyone around you?
To have the power to save those that need it most. To have the power to change the world for the better.
Do you wish you had a superpower that could change the world around you?
Good news, you do have the power.
Bad news, it’s not as flashy as the ones we see on TV.
Hint: it’s something that humans have but no other creature has (at least not to this extent).
Did you guess it?
What we have that no other organism on this planet has is human consciousness: the level of self-awareness and introspection that gives us the unique ability to think about our own existence, contemplate abstract concepts, and shift our external reality in our favor.
By simply being aware of our thoughts and emotions, we can change the world around us by changing our internal world.
According to a study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, "Consciousness is the primary phenomenon, and everything else is secondary to it" (Baars, 2012). This means that our consciousness is what shapes our reality, and by being aware of our thoughts and emotions, we can change that reality.
But how do we tap into this superpower?
The answer lies in reprogramming our subconscious mind. According to Dr. Joe Dispenza, a world-renowned researcher in quantum physics and neuroscience, "If you pair an experience with a positive emotion enough times, it becomes real in your brain and body" (Dispenza, 2020).

Here are 5 Ways to Tap Into your Superpower
1. Create Afformations
Afformations were created by Severine Baron, an Energy Healer specializing in Subconscious Reprogramming, to challenge the subconscious to prove something good.
Instead of saying, “I am happy” or “I am confident” which can be difficult to say if you don’t believe it, ask yourself “Why am I so happy?” or “Why am I so confident?”
When you frame affirmations in the form of a question, you’re prompted to answer and confirm the affirmation with evidence.
You naturally start thinking, I’m happy because… or I’m confident because…
2. Utilize Visualization
When you visualize a life you want and enforce that visualization with strong positive emotions, it has a better chance of becoming your life.
Here’s a short practice to get you started:
Begin by taking a few deep breaths and closing your eyes. Imagine yourself in the future, living the life you desire. See yourself in that reality as if it is happening right now. Imagine the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings associated with this reality.
Use present tense statements to describe your desired future reality. For example, if your desire is to own a successful business, say "I am running a successful business and feel fulfilled in my work" instead of "I will own a successful business." By using the present tense, you are affirming that this reality already exists and you are already living it.
As you continue to visualize this future reality, allow yourself to feel the emotions associated with it. Feel the joy, satisfaction, and abundance that comes with living this life. Stay with this visualization for a few minutes, allowing yourself to fully embody this reality.
When you are ready, slowly open your eyes and come back to the present moment. Remember that by visualizing your desired future reality in the present tense, you are creating the neural pathways in your brain that will help reveal this reality into your life.
3. Practice Gratitude
Express gratitude for something negative or challenging in your life.
When you reframe difficult situations and see them as opportunities for growth rather than destruction, you cultivate resilience and a deeper sense of gratitude.
Try it yourself, what’s something challenging in your life and how can you be grateful for that experience?
For example, I’m struggling with my addiction to vaping and I’m grateful for this opportunity to practice nonjudgmental awareness to myself and learn more about what emotionally drives me.
4. Mindfully Breath
By learning how to mindfully breathe, you’re also learning to increase the distance between a stimulus/trigger and your response/reaction. Increasing this distance allows you to make choices rather than impulsively react as well as regulate your thoughts and emotions in the present moment.
Here’s a quick practice to get started:
Find stillness wherever you are. Begin by taking 3 deep belly breaths, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth, releasing any tension or stress you may be holding.
Now, focus on your breath. As you inhale, say to yourself “Breathing in, I calm my body.” As you exhale, say to yourself, “Breathing out, I smile.”
Continue this for several minutes, allowing your breath to be the center of your attention. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to your breath without judgment.
When you're ready to end the practice, take a few more deep breaths and bring your attention back to your surroundings.
5. Do the Opposite Action
When in doubt, do the opposite action. This helps break negative patterns, gain control over your emotions and responses, and encourages you to think more deeply about your actions and their consequences.
Here’s a quick practice and example to get started:
First, take a moment to observe your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Notice if there is a particular impulse or pattern that you tend to follow when faced with a certain situation.
Next, consciously choose to do the opposite of what you would normally do. For example, if you tend to react with anger when someone cuts you off in traffic, choose to take a deep breath and let it go instead.
As you do the opposite of your usual impulse, bring awareness to how it makes you feel. Do you feel a sense of calm? Do you feel more in control of your emotions? Notice any shifts in your mindset and how it affects your behavior.
Remember, these are just a few ways you can take to tap into your superpower of awareness and consciously reprogram your mind. Find the practices that resonate with you and make them a part of your daily routine.
With relentless support,
Alyssa
